The Little Deli Crosby

A great afternoon with lovely food at the Little Deli Crosby

We currently live on the docks in Liverpool but we have been spending an increasing amount of time in Crosby lately as we have been looking to buy our first house there (eek!).  Inevitably this means that we have found ourselves checking out the restaurants and bars in the area to see what is on offer.

One of the first places we decided to visit was The Little Deli, which had been recommended to us by a friend.

The hot weather (when will it ever end?!) meant that we were able to sit outside on one of their bench tables in the sun.  We had a coffee and we were happy to see that they offer a full variety of vegan milk alternatives including oat, almond and coconut milk.

We opted for the bagels with avocado and tomato and couldn’t resist getting the cheese platter because, well, cheese is life.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that the bagels were supplied by a favourite of ours, The Bagelry (Liverpool).  When the cheese platter came out it was so big that the staff had to set it up on it’s own table!  With at least 5 different cheeses, crackers, bread, cornichons, capers and sun dried tomatoes…it was cheese platter heaven.  The accompanying fresh fruit and chutneys were also a very welcome addition.  The food was fresh and faultless.  The platter was so big that we couldn’t finish it, even with two friends there to help us try, but the staff were more than happy to wrap it up so that we could take it home and have a little midnight cheese snack.

The staff informed us that whilst The Little Deli does not currently have a licence to sell alcohol, they are more than happy for you to BYOB.  I think we will be taking them up on that offer in the near future, as the only thing missing from that cheese board was a nice glass of wine to go with it!

We finished lunch off with a can from The Soda Works, which is a company founded in Liverpool that specialise in all natural, low sugar, preservative free sparkling juice drinks.  We tried the Watermelon and the Pineapple and Coconut flavours, which went down a treat in the heat.

On it’s website The Little Deli’s motto is “Fresh, Seasonal and Big on Taste”…after trying what they have to offer we can’t help but agree.
