Afternoon Tea at The Richmond Hotel

The Richmond Hotel is found in the heart of the city centre in a beautiful iconic Grade ll listed building.
The Richmond is not somewhere we have ever considered going for afternoon tea so we were excited when we were given the opportunity to try out their Festive Afternoon Tea.
The beautifully old building was made even more pretty with Christmas garlands and trinkets which immediately got us in the festive spirit and we were greeted with Prosecco and a non-alcoholic strawberry fizz on arrival.
When we sat down the staff checked our dietary requirements and went off to confirm our vegetarian requirements with the Chef.  There was a large table of women next to us who we could hear raving about how good the cakes were so we already knew we were in for a treat…

The sandwiches consisted of…
  • Hummus w/ Roasted Red Pepper
  • Egg & Cress
  • Mature Cheddar w/ Cranberry
  • Cream Cheese & Cucumber
All classic sandwiches you would expect to see on an afternoon tea menu, but all made superbly.

The mini desserts were the star of the show…
  • Scones with a VERY generous serving of clotted cream and jam
  • Lemon Meringue Tart
  • Chocolate Cream Baileys Cake
  • Mini Mince Pies
  • Mini Raspberry Cheecake

I’m proud that as a city we find that we rarely get bad service in Liverpool.  By nature, Scousers are welcoming and friendly people; however, the staff at the Richmond Hotel were next level.  They were so accommodating, professional and friendly.  Honestly, even if the food wasn’t quite as good as it was we would still consider going back as the staff made it such a lovely experience.

It broke our heart a bit that we were so stuffed that we couldn’t finish it all off, nor could the table of ladies next to us, which make sure you visit with an empty stomach.  The festive option was just £23.95pp with the regular afternoon tea only £18.95 – we can’t wait to go back in the New Year to see what else they have to offer!
